We propose that it should be the goal of the JCMT to achieve one arcsecond pointing in each axis during routine operation (weather permitting). This will required significant mechanical, electrical and software effort, but is considered high priority by the JCMT project. We hope to achieve this goal on timescales of a year or so from now.
