Mixed Resolutions

The construction of a track model at variable azimuthal resolution, with higher resolution around the track joints, might allow more rapid data acquisition in the Point-Wise mode. Some data was taken with normal resolution of 1degree and a higher resolution of 0.1degree around the track joints, but it proved problematic to reduce. At the change in resolution we see apparent zero-point shifts, amounting to +3" in Ch 5 and -3" in Ch 8, with a reversal of shift when the resolution changes back.

No explanation is offered at this time. The use of mixed resolution data is considered improbable in the light of the much better performance achieved with other modes of operation.
