The inclinometers

Our two old inclinometers (by British Aerospace) come in their own grey carry-cases, together with digital readout meters and cables with DIN plugs.

They are sensitive to disturbance ( thermal and mechanical shock), and need handling with care - use gloves ! They should be stored in their cases in the main area of the dome or in their cupboard - do not bring them into any rooms warmer than the general dome temperature.

They will measure tilts from the horizontal up to about 1000" in either direction with 1" accuracy. Their primary connection to the outside world is via the DIN plug connection at the 'back'-end to their meters. The voltage displayed digitally by the meters shows an increase when the 'front'-end of the inclinometer rises. We shall describe their orientation by reference to the 'front-' and 'back-' (or 'connector-') ends.
