On the A-frames

IT IS MOST IMPORTANT FOR YOUR SAFETY that you follow this procedure.

Go to the drive consoles on the right side of the dome floor.
Disable the telescope azimuth drives by removing the AD castell key.
Insert it into the red AD key-hole above it.
Remove the safety key with the castell key marked 'T'.
Enter your name and the time on the board.
Go to the basement and prepare to enter the plinth area.

It is dangerous to be in the basement if the telescope could be activated. The person in the basement should keep this castell key and only return it and activate the antenna drives when everyone is out of the plinth.

You will need a pair of step-ladders, and preferably someone to hold them steady, and a size 3 hex-key to bolt the inclinometers to their mounting brackets. Enter via the plinth gate with the 'T' key.

Locate the holes in the observing floor above you lying directly above the A-frame beams and half way along. The inclinometers bolt into mounting plates on the beams. Mount No.2264 on the right A-frame, No.2267 on the left, with their long axes parallel to the beams, and the cable connections pointing to the rear of the building.

Go - or get someone else to go - back onto the observing floor and lower through the holes one end of the appropriate signal cable; the cables are labelled to match the inclinometers by number. Wrap the cable around the beam once or twice in order to prevent tension on the cable being translated to the inclinometer, and plug the cable into the inclinometer. Exit the basement, taking the step-ladders with you.
