Logon to MWTVAX as OPERATOR, and run up the system software by typing
O INC
This selects the default version of the software and defines
[jcmtuser.observe.INC] as the data directory.
Ensure that the encoder zero-points in mt_teldir:plain_telescope.dat
are the same as the current values in mt_teldir:radio_telescope.dat.
start_bus
ICL
ICL> INC_system
ICL> INC_load
This should load up the relevant inclinometry software as well as the
TEL task and a SCREEN task. You should respond in the affirmative to the
question regarding the use of the RxH micro - and the RxH tasks will
then also load. Accept the default RxH parameters.
When the TEL task has loaded, turn on the telescope and carousel drives
and computer-enable them as if preparing for conventional observing.
Go to the antenna control console, type control-C twice and type
PATCH at the . prompt
This allows you to change SERVO parameters : type 99 (to access a part of
the menu not immediately offered !) and then 1 (for azimuth) in order to
change the integration coefficient (sub-option 2) from 0.010 to 0.001.
Remember to change it back after inclinometry is done.
Exit the menus (with 0) and start the SERVO program.
Do test scans by typing INC> INC_go
You are then prompted for parameters which are mostly self-explanatory.
You should select a wait time of 3-4 seconds to ensure that the telescope,
and the inclinometers, have properly settled. Select an elevation
different from 90 (eg 89.9) to avoid 'zenith' problems, and EN
co-ordinates.
The tasks then drive the telescope to the starting azimuth and take the
first datum. These are displayed on your screen as INC_1 and INC_2. Also
shown are the s.d. of the samples. The first attempt may yield corrupt
data (a 'feature' of the RxH micro) so repeat if necessary. If either of
the values is 0 the signal reaching the RxH micro is negative, so you
should add positive voltage via the signal offset box. The signal offset
box gives 1V offsets for each full turn of the pots.
A good strategy for actually taking data is called INC_cw5 , described
below.
When data-taking is complete do
INC> INC_kill
ICL> exit
