The track surface can be modeled by fourteen 'bowed' sections with deep depressions where the track sections meet.
The model used is a quartic polynomial for each section and a fixed offset for each joint.
The initial data (leica data) used to define the polynomials may contain substantial error margins. The joints are not well understood in this model and consequently are not modelled in any detail.
