Because both the direct track inclinometry and the Leica data have resolutions larger than the joints, the joint steps have been measured by Ian Pain on 30 June 1995 using an LVDT, and the results, in microns, summarised below were reported by him on 17 July 1995. Positive steps sizes are steps up.
