In May 1995 we placed shims of thickness 102
m at strategic locations
across the track and made inclinometry and pointing measurements as
the wheels went over them. This was designed to yield directly the
tilts of the A-frames and the ensuing pointing errors and to test the
assumptions of rigid geometry described above, without pushing the antenna
over bumps it does not normally encounter anyway.
A detailed document on the analysis of the Pointing with Shims experiments
is available from IMC.
