Structural distortions due to stresses and gravity will both alter the pointing
and degrade its effective resolution. Documents MT282 (REH, 1982) and MT349
(JDW, 1982) suggest that this contribution to the error budget, e
, might
be as much as 1.0
rms, although our observed pointing performance
of about 1.6
rms in each coordinate suggests that this estimate
is excessive.
