CRL2688

CRL2688

850um       &       450um

  • The contour intervals are
    • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 75% of peak at 850um and
    • 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 25, 50 and 75% of peak at 450um.
  • The 450um data are from early evening on December 18 1997.
  • The extension in the 450um map is due to the error beam, and is not due to the source itself.

It is difficult to determine whether or not CRL2688 is a point source : the 450um data suggest a size of 9.5" , which is larger than a true point source like CRL618, and confirms a suggestion by Sandell (2001, ESA SP Vol.481, pE93) of a 5" size at 850um.

With the assumption that CRL2688 is unresolved, it is estimated that there is an additional contribution of 0.5 Jy at 850 micron within a 30" radius. The 850 micron map yields a FWHM of 15.4", while the beam from Uranus observations at the same time gave ~15.2". 450micron data from early evening in mid-December 1997 show a substantial error lobe, but suggest that the core is unresolved.

The time series at 850um between 1997.5 and 2001.4 provides no evidence for variability.
