SPECX - spectral line data reduction

SPECX - spectral line data reduction

All spectral line data reduction is initially performed with the Specx package written by Rachael Padman. This software is supported locally (bug fixes only) by Remo and Tim.

The latest version is V6.7-6 which includes Year2K fixes, enhancements to FITS I/O and expanded documentation. Starlink distributions are available for Solaris and Digital Unix.

The following additional information on SPECX is available:

  • The SPECX Users' manual (note that the current version of this document is for V6.3 [the last vax version])

  • The SPECX Cookbook (Starlink version)

  • The Introduction to SPECX (from the Starlink distribution - includes release notes and old JCMT newsletter articles)

  • The SPECX Crash Course explains how to use SPECX for simple tasks related to Service observing.

SPECX is Year 2000 compliant and exports FITS files suitable for import into CLASS (note that a modern version (>= 1999) is required to parse the Y2K compliant DATE-OBS FITS keywords).
