20000905 report
All recent transit tracking data
SUMMARY
The transit tracking data taken since the discovery data
have invariably been taken with the s-correction (TEL_EMPIRICAL.dat)
activated. This report shows the totality of data displayed as if
the s-correction had not been activated during data acquisition.
The 'transit' problem was noticed first in
April . A correction was
installed on 16 May, but recent checks in
May,
June and
twice in
July, and once again in
August
have been inconclusive for various reasons.
If there has been some change in the error pattern in the past half year
or so, it might manifest itself better if the tracking data were corrected
back to their 'raw' state - i.e. as if the s-correction had
not been applied. Code was written to do this and the 9 datasets taken
this year and amenable to this display are shown below. Click on the

Conclusions
-
Most of the data actually do not appear symmetric about azimuth 180.
Only the 'discovery' data of April seem symmetric in this way.
-
Since then the error pattern shows an azimuth symmetry that increases
to about 184 in July and decreases to 182 in August.
