20020410 report

Pointing model updated

During the course of regular observing with SCUBA, 33 data were gathered :

( Click for better view )

Five (5) points have been removed before fitting :

  • The first two data (on CRL618). These are also the highest elevation data (see the centre panel of the top line), but were taken before the normal start time (top right).
  • Three (3) data on 3c279 -- those with the large negative elevation residuals (centre row). These had been taken using bolometers other than the central one, h7.
The remaining 28 data have rms residuals in (daz, del) of (2.5", 2.0"), with a strong trend of daz -vs- elevation (top centre). Optimizing all 7 parameters of the the model using TPOINT suggests future performance of ~(1.4",1.3"). (We'll see).

This seems much better than at any time in the past month.

The new model was installed at ~14:15 HST 10 Apr 2002.
Since the early CRL618 data were also the highest elevation data, the use of this model should strictly be applicable only to elevations below el=72o.
