Pointing model updates


The first moderately substantial pointing dataset following the central bearing load adjustment of 14 May 2002 was a 15-point dataset on the 17th :

A strong trend of daz -vs- elevation appears (top center), and the v.large rms residual in azimuth (5.2") obviously needed addressing. The data were reduced using TPOINT and a new model installed.

Subsequent data comprising 32 SCUBA pointings taken on the morning of the 21st :

showed an equally strong trend of daz -vs- elevation, but in a sense counter to that seen above : it would appear that the new model had over-compensated. These data allowed the creation of a model that was installed at 17:15 on the 21st, and should perform as shown below :

and should yield rms residuals in (daz,del) of (1.4", 1.9").
