Pointing model updates
The first moderately substantial pointing dataset
following the central bearing load adjustment of
14 May 2002
was a 15-point dataset on the 17th :
A strong trend of daz -vs- elevation appears (top center),
and the v.large rms residual in azimuth (5.2") obviously
needed addressing. The data were reduced using
TPOINT
and a new model installed.
Subsequent data comprising 32 SCUBA pointings taken on the morning of the
21st :
showed an equally strong trend of daz -vs- elevation, but in a sense
counter to that seen above : it would appear that the new model had
over-compensated. These data allowed the creation of a model that
was installed at 17:15 on the 21st, and should perform as shown below :
and should yield rms residuals in (daz, del) of (1.4", 1.9").
