20020920 report

Further CW Inclinometry, OK

Inclinometry was done as follows :

Datasets El Dirn HST mean leg temperatures Humidity
                          start start middle end %
  ( 20020817 90 cw 03:01 3.6 3.6 3.6 65
    20020824 90 cw 21:39 8.5 8.2 7.7 90
    20020904 90 cw 21:06 7.5 6.9 6.6 80
    20020905 90 cw 01:41 6.0 5.5 5.3 65 )
    20020920 90 cw 10:02 4.5 6.0 7.3 50

The temperature data from the fixed TMU inclinometer went awry early on, so the new data are not temperature-corrected. The resulting model is compared with the previous model (of the 17th) below :

  • There are no signs of 'spikes'. 'End effects' may be the result of the absent temperature corrections.

  • The formal differences in (F1,F2,F3) are described by the rms scatters of (0.32", 0.30", 0.64").

  • Updates have been made to the plots of symmetry and strain gauge data. All looks OK.

  • The model of the 17th is left in place, since
    • the changes seen are small
    • the data are imperfect (no temperature corrections made)
    • the temperature prevailing for on the 17th is (still) closer to normal observing temperatures than these
    • the interpretation still holds that the data of the 17th are free from spikes.
