Pointing model updated


26 SCUBA data were taken last night in a 3 hour period around midnight. The data are shown below :

The rms of the residuals in (dS,dZ) or (daz,del) were (1.6",1.9"), and a fairly strong systematic is seen in the plot (upper left) of the azimuth pointing residuals -vs- azimuth. A detail of this is shown here :

A fit for all 7 TPOINT parameters yielded a 4-sigma change of -1.7" to AW. The expected performance of the new model should be (1.1",1.6"), with the above trend mostly removed:

The new model was installed at about 1pm on 07 May 2003.

This change in AW may be a reflection of the 'broad transit effect' seen in recent transit tracking experiments. The next task in the pointing project is to perform further transit tracking to see if the new pointing model removes this 'broad'-ness.
