20030730 report b
Pointing following SMU repair OK
Repeated X-table errors forced the removal & repair of the SMU
on 14/15/16 July,
although subsequent problems with the membrane delayed the
return to observing until Jul 27.
The evening shift of 30 July was used in part to obtained
allsky pointing data with SCUBA. 53 data were logged,
and gave raw rms residuals in (daz, del) of (1.7",1.9").
There were strong thermal effects at the start of the night,
most simply expressed as a linear relationship between the elevation
residuals and mean antenna temperature. Accounting for this
trend reduces the rms residuals in elevation to 1.4".
There were no other strong geometric trends.
Given this essentially nominal performance I shall not adjust
the pointing model.
