20050107 report

CW-CCW Inclinometry update

Inclinometry had been done as follows :

Datasets El Dirn HST mean leg temperatures Humidity
                          start start middle end %
    20050106 90 cw 22:00 -1.5 -1.6 -1.6 60
    20050107 90 ccw 02:00 -1.6 -1.7 -1.6 45

and the use of the CW data in updating the track mode has been described elsewhere. The difference between the CW & CCW models resulting from these new data is shown below:

The differences in are described by rms scatters of (1.00", 0.21", 0.46") in (F1,F2,F3) c.f. (1.02", 0.22", 0.36") previously. The CW-CCW difference remains incredibly stable, as shown in the plot below, which compares this new difference with the CW-CCW (difference) template used throughout 2004 in the creation of the hybrid track models we now use.

The differences in are described by rms scatters of (0.55", 0.20", 0.33") in (F1,F2,F3)

There were only a few CW,CCW pairs of inclinometry runs taken during 2004 ( 22 March 12 May 02 August ), and the latter two had complications that mitigate against using them in generating a CW-CCW template, as was done using several CW,CCW pairs in 2003. It's about time an updated template was created. Although the new hybrid model created today from these data used the 2003 template, future hybrid track models will use the new CW-CCW difference, augmented (averaged), as time proceeds, with future CW-CCW differences as they are collected.
