20060831 report

RxA pointing

Pointing was obtained w/RxA during the night of UT 31 Aug. 32 data were logged; a few at the end were all on crl618 during other tests, although they covered a non-trivial range of (az,el) space and so I have left them in the reduction for now. Two early entries from this series on crl618 were removed for other reasons, as were one of the logged entries for w3(oh) and the troublesome observation of PV Cep. The remaining 28 data were reduced using TPOINT and a pointing model derived which should have a performance in (dS,dZ) of (3.2",2.3"). Removing also the several pointings reported in ompobslog as being of suspect nature left 21 data, and a new fit generated a model with an expected (dS,dZ) of (2.8",2.3").

Given the early state of the recovery of the telescope, either of thse results seems reasonably good. The N=28 model has been installed (16:30 HST 31 Aug 2006) because of its fuller (az,el) coverage.
