RxA pointing : mo' . . . and bettah !
Pointing was obtained w/RxA during the night of UT 01 Sep.
35 data were logged; a few at the start were all on crl2688 during
other tests, although they cover a non-trivial range of (az,el) space
and so have been left in the reduction for now.
The data were first reduced/displayed using
TPOINT
to remove just the collimation offsets. The raw data
show raw rms residuals in (dS,dZ) of (2.3",2.3"):
a hugely satisfying confirmation of the model installed
yesterday.
Nonetheless, some residual systematic trends remain:
particularly of dZ -vs- Z (zenith distance).
A new pointing model was therefore derived using
TPOINT
allowing all 7 parameters of the model to be optimized.
The results :
show the general removal of the systematics and an improvement in the
scatter to (2.1", 1.7") rms in (dS,dZ):
