20090204 Report

Pointing performance, January 2009

The last report was on 20090113. This report is an analysis of data from January 2009.

Without any adjustment for nightly collimation differences, they behave as follows:

Dataset FE No. CA +- dS IE +- dZ
                             (daz) (del)
   200901 A 134 -0.1 +- 1.7 -2.6 +- 2.9

   200901 H 194 +16.7 +- 2.8 +34.9 +- 3.1

These are displayed below; RxA on the left and HARP on the right:

As before, the RxA data remains normally distributed. The trend of dS-vs-Z seen in recent HARP datasets (centre-left frame in right-hand plot) remains.

Focus

The focus data yield the following statistics and trends:
Month FE Axis N mean +- Notes
 ----- ---- ---- --- ------- ------ ---------------------------
  Jan RxA Z 35 0.34 0.17 0 < Tmean < 9
                X 8 0.13 0.16
                Y 11 0.03 0.11

  Jan HARP Z 93 0.33 0.16 0 < Tmean < 12
                X 31 -0.03 0.20
                Y 30 -0.09 0.18
Previous reports have discussed changing trends identified within the data. The trends for January are given below where a slight upward trend can be seen with RxA. This is in contrast to the previous month which contained a substantially larger dataset. Conversely, the Harp data which had displayed a trend in December with a smaller dataset, now shows none with higher sampling.
 Jan: HARP_Z = (+0.03 +- 0.09)*sin(el) s.d. 0.13
 Jan: RXA_Z = (+0.30 +- 0.18)*sin(el) s.d. 0.15

  • The are no strong trends apparent in this months data, in contrast to previous months.

Previously a downward trend has been identified during the first half of the night in the Z-vs-UT plot; this remains apparent in the January datasets.
