20090520 report

CW/CCW inclinometry updated

20 May 2009

A full cw/ccw inclinometry run was performed on May 19th following a central bearing adjustment. This was required following the emergence of spikes in the track profile which are the indicator of a wheel losing contact with the track (see 20090518).

Datasets El Dirn HST mean leg temperatures Humidity
                              start start middle end %

    20090519 89 cw 14:45 5.5 6.3 7.2 22

The new data are recorded from the 3 active inclinometers and one of the two strain gauge channels.

  • The differences between the (CW) model derived from this run and last track model to be unaffected by the spikes (2nd May) are shown on the left. The plot on the right shows the differences between this and the previous data from 20090515 displaying the spikes:

  • The resulting rms scatters in the differences in (F1,F2,F3) for the left hand plot are (1.05", 0.46", 0.91") compared to (2.37", 1.35", 1.10") for the right hand plot. The spikes are clearly no longer present.

  • The CW-CCW profile is normal, and is used to generate a hybrid track model which was installed on the 19th May at ~21:00.

    Strain Data
After the concern regarding the consistently falling loading on the wheels the strain gauge data for the remaining channel shows an improved distribution across the wheels to the recent readings. However the left-right asymmetry remains. The load on the wheels now show a positive recovery back to more nominal values.
