20090707 report

CW/CCW inclinometry updated

7 July 2009

This inclinometry run was carried out on 7th July following a central bearing adjustment earlier in the day.

Datasets El Dirn HST mean leg temperatures Humidity
                              start start middle end %
   (20090628 89 cw 08:30 12.7 13.5 14.3 4
    20090628 89 ccw 11:45 14.3 15.0 15.7 6)
    20090707 89 cw 16:00 12.2 12.6 12.7 13

The new data are recorded from the 3 active inclinometers and one of the two strain gauge channels. The LT trace, which showed strange behaviour during the previous inclinometry run now shows no problems.

  • The differences between the (CW) model derived from this run and the previous run on 28th June are shown below.

  • The resulting rms scatters in the differences in (F1,F2,F3) for the left hand plot are (0.68", 0.51", 0.31") compared to (0.34", 0.28", 0.42") last time.

  • The CW-CCW profile is normal, and is used to generate a hybrid track model which was installed on the 7th July at 22:00.

    Strain Data
The engineering work on 7th July included and central bearing adjustment and the positioning of some balance weights over the left front wheel to increase the loading on wheel 4. The plot below shows the loadings on each wheel following this work. The strain gauge analysis shows a return to nonimal performance (see strain gauge data).
