Central bearing fault monitoring
The plot below shows the az & el residuals during tracking of Uranus.
The data was taken (erroneously) without turning off the empirical
pointing corrections.
They show a 3" excursion in daz at the suspect azimuth,
suggesting that the empirical corrections are deficient.
However, increased noise in del immediately following the expected
problem zone at azimuth=223, might allow that the daz
excursions are due to sky noise rather than a poor
empirical correction. At an elevation of about 35 degrees, the expected
excursion (with no empirical correction) is 8.5" peak to peak.
