These instructions are for
- The inclinometry 'operator' (Iain Coulson, the TSS, other)
- The JCMT Work Leader (WL)
They are a tailored version of the
Remote Equipment Operation Safety
Procedures.
Coordination of Activities
- The operator should contact WL and request permission to do
inclinometry, and that this involves moving the antenna/carousel in
azimuth for ~3 hours (CW or CCW) or ~6hours (CW+CCW).
- The operator should request that the WL enable the antenna &
carousel drives, remind the WL that access to any portion of the
antenna is forbidden during inclinometry, and obtain his permission to
proceed.
- The WL should enable the drives, announce over the JCMT paging system
that remote inclinometry is in progress, that the antenna is under
remote control, and that access to any portion of the antenna is forbidden.
- The WL might want to place the "Inclinometry in Progress" sandwich
boards near the AEC console and at the foot of the stairs,
respectively.
- When the inclinometry is finished, the operator should inform
the WL (if s/he is still there), request
permission from him to send the telescope to zenith, and remind him
that an announcement to this effect should be made on the paging
system.
- While in verbal communication with the WL, and with his permission,
the operator should send the telescope to zenith.
- The operator should request that the WL turn off the drives.
If the WL is no longer at JCMT, s/he can set LOCAL control via
aecDisp.
- The operator should run down
the inclinometry software.
