"Unveiling the universe at submillimetre wavelengths:
A new wide-field imaging camera for the JCMT"

ABSTRACT: "SCUBA-2 - a new generation, wide-field submm camera for the JCMT - has recently received significant funding to take the project to the critical proof of concept phase in October 2002. This talk will concentrate on the current status of the project, with particular emphasis on the science requirements, operational modes and interface with the JCMT. The technology associated with the instrument represents a major change in direction over existing submm cameras such as SCUBA, and will provide the astronomical community with effectively the first submm "CCD" camera. Applications of this new technology also go beyond SCUBA-2 on the JCMT, and some of these exciting prospects are also discussed."
