"Dust-free Star Formation Rate from Multi-waveband
Galaxy Surveys"
ABSTRACT: "Estimates of star formation rate (SFR) in the local Universe
(0 < z < 1) are still uncertain. This is mostly due to biases in
selecting samples of star-forming galaxies, uncertainties in corrections
for dust extinction and astrophysics of different star formation diagnostics.
The most serious problem is that using different star formation diagnostic,
one gets different SFRs, even for the same objects. In this talk I will
address these problems by comparing SFRs from a number of independent star
formation diagnostics, applied on multi-waveband galaxy surveys. Potential
of these surveys for finding new classes of objects is also discussed."
