"NGC 1569 --- The ISM of a Dwarf Galaxy in the Aftermath
of a Starburst"
ABSTRACT: "Until about 5 Myr ago, the gas-rich dwarf irregular galaxy NGC
1569 has experienced a tremendous starburst that has profoundly affected
the distribution and the properties of the ISM. Numerous H-alpha filaments
and a galactic wind blowing hot very metal-rich gas out of the galaxy are
only two pieces of evidence for this event. Using high-resolution HI data,
I report on the distribution and kinematics of the neutral atomic hydrogen
in this strongly disturbed dwarf galaxy and its halo. In addition, I will
discuss the peculiar CO line ratios found in the center of the galaxy and
their implications for the properties of the molecular gas in a post-starburst
dwarf galaxy. Finally, I will present new deep radio continuum polarization
data that allow a first glance at the global structure of the magnetic field
in this starburst dwarf galaxy."
