"The infrared SED of starforming galaxies"
ABSTRACT: Understanding the SED (spectral energy distribution) of
galaxies is essential when interpreting sparse, broad-band data. In
particular, it is a fundamental ingredient of all galaxy evolution
models. In this talk, I'll discuss an ongoing project to more robustly
model the 1-1000 micron SED of galaxies (i.e. dust emission). We use our
new approach to further our understanding of the brightest ~10% of the
Cosmic Infrared Background contributors. These galaxies now have extensive
photometric follow-up (including with SCUBA on the JCMT) across the full
IR range.
