"First Results from a Molecular Line Survey
of Local Extreme Starbursts"
ABSTRACT:
I will present exciting new results from a CO/HCN multi-J
survey of galaxies with L(IR) gt 10e11 L-solar and z lt 0.3. The survey,
conducted at the JCMT and IRAM 30-meter telescopes, is currently the
largest of its kind. The observations provide a first glimpse at the
state of the dense, star-forming molecular gas in these galaxies. I
will also discuss future prospects for follow-up observations with
Herschel and ALMA.
