"Deep NIR Surveys: Diverse instruments and strategies to understand
galaxy evolution at z>1"
ABSTRACT: "Bulk evolution of the galaxy population is becoming
increasingly understood at z<1 but evidence is accumulating (especially
from deep HST imaging and colours) that the bulk of the gross changes in
the galaxy population are occuring at 1 < z < 2 where the rest-frame
optical is only accessible in the Near IR. I present a short review of
recent deep optical and NIR surveys and discuss proposed ideas for new
instruments and new surveys to trace galaxy evolution in detail in to the
z > 1 regime."
