"Optical Infrared Observations of Distant Minor PLanets" or "Dirty going's on in the Outer Solar System" (or "This object is faint, better keep integrating.")

ABSTRACT: "In an update to the talk presented at the 1996 Hawaii neighbourhood meeting I will review recent (1992-present) discoveries of distant minor planets in what have become known as the Kuiper Disk and Centaur regions. Then I will show UKIRT and INT data on several of these objects, some of which will conflict with previously published data. UKIRT and INT observations of the recently discovered objects 1996PW and 1997CU26 will also be shown and some preliminary conclusions regarding the diversity of objects in the Kuiper disk will be given.
