"Photodissociation Regions in NGC 253"
ABSTRACT: "Photodissociation regions (PDRs) are where UV photons,
generated by young stars, interact with molecular gas. In the nuclei of
starburst galaxies a significant fraction of the ISM resides in PDRs. I
will discuss a detailed case study of PDRs in the nearby starburst NGC
253, concentrating on observations made with UKIRT and the JCMT. I will
infer the nature of the starburst in NGC 253 by comparing the results from
the Mauna Kea telescopes with observations made at far-IR and radio wavelengths."
