"Destroying Circumstellar Disks in Orion's Trapezium"

ABSTRACT:"The strong UV radiation field produced by the central O stars in the Trapezium cluster create a hostile environment for the young low-mass stars and their disks. In this talk I will consider the effect of EUV and FUV heating of the circumstellar disks and the resultant disk evaporation observed in the Trapezium region. The talk will end with a discussion of the present state of the disk systems and their evolution, complete with speculation on the likelihood of planet formation. For more information see my Orion web page. http://www.cita.utoronto.ca/~johnstone/orion.html"
