"First measurements of proper motions and varaibility of H2 in protostellar outflows"

ABSTRACT:"We will present some of the first proper motion measurements yet made in the near-IR of molecular shock features in outflows from young stars. We will also discuss knot variability and the effects this has on the interpretation of our data. Derived from observations taken at UKIRT and ESO over a four-year period, these data compare favourably with numerical models of knot formation in protostellar jets and estimates of molecular cooling times in jet driven bow shocks."
