"Keck observations of galactic black holes" ABSTRACT:I will
present an overview of black hole research in general and present the historical
development of searching for galactic black holes. In particular Soft X-ray
transients are the best candidates for black holes and the programme undertaken
by the Keck-I telescope will be presented on GRO J0422+32, GS2000+32 and
Nova Oph 1977. The mass ratios are determined and images of the disc around
the black holes are reconstructed. "
