"MegaPrime: the next generation of wide field imaging at CFHT"

ABSTRACT: "After a brief review of the main scientific goals of wide field imaging on the CFHT 3.6-m telescope, the talk will describe the MegaPrime project, which is not only a new mosaic camera with 40 CCDs covering a 1 square degree field, but a completely new upper end of the telescope. It includes a new wide field corrector, a pair of guider and focus sensors, an image stabilizing unit, a filter jukebox and finally the camera/shutter assembly. MegaPrime should be ready by the middle of 2001."
