"HST Observations of Stellar Populations in Local Group Dwarf Galaxies"

ABSTRACT: "I will discuss how HST WFPC2 observations of stellar populations in nearby dwarf galaxies has improved our understanding of their surprisingly complex star formation histories. Current research problems about the formation and evolution processes present in Local Group dwarf galaxies will be discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of ground-based and HST-based observations programs will be analyzed to show how significant advances in dwarf galaxy formation theory are now possible with coordinated HST and ground-based observations."
