> CGS4 Read Noise

The ARRAY_TESTS exec, which should be run at the beginning of the night  gives an indication of how well the array is behaving. Instructions on how to run this exec are given here .  At present, the measured read noise is about 40 - 45e.

Read noise < 40e: The DR will say this is LOW

Read noise 40 - 50e: The DR will say this is NOMINAL

Read noise > 50e: The DR will say this is HIGH.

If you see a read noise higher than 60e, please inform your support scientist. Anything much higher than 60e indicates a problem with the array, and it is vital you inform one of the UKIRT staff, preferably Tom Kerr (tkerr).
