How to change between CGS4 and IRCAM
At the moment it is not possible to run both the CGS4 and IRCAM acquisition
software simultaneously. This document summarises the procedure for
changing from CGS4 to IRCAM and back, in the most efficient way without
having to run down the CGS4 motors. (On Kiki you can run both CGS4 and
IRCAM data reduction simultaneously).
-
Run down the CGS4 software with the PF1 key and answer NO to the prompt
"Do you wish to kill the motors task".
-
Iconise this CGS4 Decterm.
-
You must open a new Decterm to run IRCAM from.
-
Run up IRCAM3_DEV as usual in this new window.
-
It is a good idea to note down the offset between your CGS4 position and
the IRCAM position.
To change back to CGS4:
-
Run down the IRCAM3 software as usual.
-
Log out of the IRCAM3 Decterm.
-
Go back to the CGS4 Decterm and run up CGS4_dev as usual.
-
You must set to a config using set_single_observation or by starting an
exec with config name in it, before you can repeak up.
-
The offset from IRCAM back to CGS4 will be the opposite of the one from
CGS4 to IRCAM unless you have changed the position angle of the slit on
the sky. Don't forget to warn your telescope system specialist if
you have done this !
-
If you have spent more than two hours using IRCAM or you have moved a long
way across the sky, it is a good idea to repeat your flat and arc, even
if you have not changed wavelength or position angle.
