UKIRT (has it really been almost a year already?). I look forward
to maintaining the high standard and productivity of the service
program that we've all come to expect over the years.
Since taking over the program, I've built an on-line database to
help keep track of things. This gives the service program a new
look, especially when viewed through the web pages. The main change
affecting our user community is that we now require applications
for service time to be made using an on-line web form, which can
be found from the UKIRT service program web pages. From the point
of view of a PI or Co-I on an accepted proposal, you can now check
up on the status of your

project on-line. Simply go to the project status web page, and
you'll get a table showing the completion statistics for all our
active programs. Obviously, we don't reveal too much information
here as we consider target names and co-ordinates confidential;
though here's a hint - it's obvious how to connect the ID numbers
for observations in the database with your proposal number and the
observations as numbered on your application form...
The web form is structured to ensure that you provide all the information
we need, and to make it simpler for UKIRT staff to prepare for and
carry out your observations. Of course, there's a help page which
you should read to get familiar with the concepts
