4.2. Telescope Usage

The following table summarizes the telescope usage for the four semesters 95A, 95B, 96A, and 96B, which cover the period February 1, 1995 to January 31, 1997.

The astronomer-in-charge discretionary time, which is used for engineering and commissioning, was larger than normal during the last three semesters. This is because the UKIRT Upgrades Programme required closure of the telescope over extended periods for major engineering work and night time tests of recently installed components.
