6.4.1. New Dichroic
A high-quality substrate carries a proprietary multilayer
silver-dielectric coating with better than 50% transmission through most
of the CCD optical and more than 97% reflectivity longwards of 2 microns.
This has permitted acquisition of, and guiding on, sources more than a
magnitude fainter than previously achieved.
