7. Financial Statement

The expenditures on UKIRT operations for the financial years April 1995 to March 1996 and April 1996 to March 1997 are given in the financial outturn table below. UKIRT Operations costs incurred in Hawaii are subdivided into summit costs on Mauna Kea, mid-level costs at Hale Pohaku, base level costs in Hilo, locally employed staff costs, living costs of PPARC staff in Hawaii, and costs for science, training, and management travel. In 1994/95 (and before) PPARC costs did not include salaries, whereas local staff costs are salaries and related costs paid through the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH). In 1995/96 expenditures in the U.K. explicitly included a separate add-on infrastructure cost; in 1996/97 development in the U.K. was managed from the JAC and infrastructure costs were included in the expenditures on each of the various U.K. projects.
