3. Report on Operations

3.1. Summary

  • In semester 03A UKIRT became flexibly scheduled; the ultimate goal being completion of high-priority programmes.
  • Semester 03A was also the first full semester of common-user use of UIST.
  • In June 2003 the primary was realuminised.
  • In semester 03B the dome drives were replaced.
  • In semester 04A MICHELLE was offered and used in every mode, before being transferred to Gemini North on long-term loan.
  • Preparations for WFCAM ramped up from 2003; in September 2004 WFCAM arrived and first light took place on October 21st 2004.
