How to apply to ukirtserv
How to apply to ukirtserv
Applications are now only accepted via the new
online NorthStar system. Proposals via the old submission
system will no longer be accepted. Although the system is largely
self-documenting, there
are additional local notes
available
here with further instructions for use in generating full Service
proposals. The new system generates PDF files, and LaTeX
formatting may
now also be used. The forms and
associated software are designed to ensure that we have sufficient
information to carry out your observations. When
the proposal is successfully submitted, the PI will be issued with a
project
number. PIs should make a note of this number and use it as a
reference to help us quickly locate the project in case of any
queries.
Proposals will be sent out to our referees. Projects
sufficiently highly ranked will be prepared and submitted to the
Service queue. Automatic notifications will be sent to PIs
whenever data are taken for these projects. For projects not ranked
highly enough for submission, the PI will be e-mailed the referees'
feedback
when it becomes available.
Note to users of Apple Macintosh
computers: The Safari web browser is not supported by
NorthStar at this time, and so Mac users are recommended to use FireFox
(or similar) when perparing and submitting UKIRT Service proposals.
