Vehicles may be used for the following purposes:

Motor Vehicle Accident Procedures/Breakdown Procedures
a. What to do if involved in a motor vehicle accident:
-
Stop Immediately. If possible move your vehicle off the travelled
portion of the roadway. Do not leave the scene of an accident without identifying
yourself and rendering assistance.

Help The Injured
-
Call the Police (911) with vehicle's cellular phone
-
Act promptly, but carefully
-
Do not move the injured unnecessarily. Unskilled handling
can make serious injuries out of minor ones.

Keep the injured warm until skilled help arrives.
-
If there is severe bleeding attempt to stop the flow of blood
with direct pressure.

Protect the victim from oncoming traffic.

Warn Passing Traffic

Have someone warn approaching cars to prevent further accidents
from happening.

Use the emergency light, light sticks or reflective warning
triangles to help warn approaching traffic.

Exchange Information

Drivers must give their name, address, telephone number,
vehicle's license number and no-fault insurance information (glove compartment)
and, if requested, exhibit their driver's license to any person injured
in the accident or to the driver or occupant of or person attending any
vehicle or other property damaged in the accident.

If there are any witnesses, obtain their name, phone number
and address.
-
Driver and passengers should not admit fault, even if they
think they were wrong.
-
All drivers should cooperate fully with the police.
b. Unattended vehicle accidents:
Upon striking an unattended vehicle, stop and locate the
owner or leave a written notice containing your name, address and circumstances
of the accident.
c. Report Accident

a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

After hours report accident to JCMT Telescope System Specialist
or Work Leader at 935-0852. The TSS/WL will advise on breakdown procedures
