JAC Safety Manual - Manmods 19 Here is the nineteenth round of modifications made to the JAC Safety Manual as per the JAC Safety Committee Meeting of 16-June-04.  Note: Modifications to the front and back covers will appear in the hard copy versions only.

- General Use, Care and Maintenance of Equipment Policy - add to end of paragraph: 
All equipment will be used, cared for and maintained in a safe manner. Only necessary, properly functioning and safe equipment will be kept in work areas. Broken equipment awaiting repair should be clearly marked with an Engineering and Technical Services (ETS) yellow tag.  These can only be issued by ETS staff. Outside normal working hours a tag can be obtained by contacting an ETS staff member.

NOTE:  Equipment removed from service via a yellow ETS tag may only be returned to service by the person signing the tag or by the Chief Engineer.  Failure to comply with this policy will result in disciplinary action. Authorized removal of the tag indicates that the equipment is safe to use.

was: HIOSH 12-62-3 requires that  there is at least one person trained in first aid at each workplace when any staff are present. In order to achieve this at the summit we require staff in the ETS and TSS groups  to take first aid training.
revised: HIOSH 62-1 requires that in the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity to the workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid.  Adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available.  In order to achieve this at the summit we require staff in the ETS and TSS groups to take first aid training.
