JAC Safety Manual - manmods 6 Here are the sixth round of modifications made to the JAC Safety Manual as per the JAC Safety Committee Meeting of 08 June 1999.

Modifications to the front and back covers will appear in the hard copy versions only .

Portable cellular phones are now provided at our JAC HP office for use as required, for example when using rental vehicles. Use the sign-out log when you take these phones and log in the date upon return. Plug the phone back into the battery charger after use. Do not leave phones in an unattended or unlocked vehicle.

Appendix 3 section L add new text: 

L. Access to the SMU for Minor Work and Checks  

This procedure applies to access to the SMU via the Starlift or overhead crane for minor work and checks. 
1. Inform the TSS of your plans 
2. Drive the antenna to the elevation and azimuth at which the work is to be performed. 
3.Lockout the electrical power to the following: 
    • Switch off the antenna elevation power at he lockout, apply padlock(s) 
    • Switch off the antenna azimuth power at he lockout, apply padlock(s) 
    • Switch off the carousel azimuth power at the castell key. Use the multiple lockout facility; do not take the master key. 
4.Put the above keys on the board in the Control Room and write your name on the board. 
5.Verify, by attempting to operate the controls, that the antenna elevation, azimuth and carousel azimuth drives are disabled. 
6.When the work is finished, inform the TSS, remove the lockouts and remove your name from the board, and verify that the drives are working normally.

App 3 section M (new) add new item "M. Access to the SMU for Major Work" and re-alphabetize 
M.Access to the SMU for Major Work 
This procedure applies to access to the SMU for removal from the tetrapod, via the overhead crane. 
1. Inform the TSS of your plans. 
2. Drive the antenna to the elevation at which the work is to be performed; this must be one at which the elevation locking pin can be inserted. 
3. Insert the elevation locking pin. 
4. Lockout the electrical power to the following: 
    • Switch off the antenna elevation power at the lockout, apply padlock(s) 
    • Switch off the antenna azimuth power at the lockout, apply padlock(s) 
    • Switch off the carousel azimuth power at the castell key. Use the multiple lockout facility; do not take the master key.
